Your 3 steps to fixing those headaches
The root of most headaches comes from your neck and upper back often due to tension and stress. With the list of treatments and self help tips endless these days we have decided to put together our top 3 expert tips on how to relieve yourself from those nagging headaches.
Our 3 step’s may seem simple to you compared to others but trust us it works!
1. Planning more = Less stress = Less Tension = Reduced Headaches
One of the most talked about things these days is work life balance and how we are working more and no chilling enough, this could not be more true. We put this down to a lack of planning (in most cases) by this I mean plan your chilled times and stick to them! This in turn will force you to plan your work better so you get everything done. Make Sense?
The more stressed you are the tighter and more strain your neck and upper back holds and therefore your connective tissue becomes ‘tighter’ leading to headaches or even worse MIGRAINES. So simply chill, take a deep breath and plan your week.
2. Give your neck a proper stretch now and again
Stretch out every few hours it honestly doesn’t do you any harm. This applies to those of you who sit at a laptop all day or at a desk/counter, remember your neck need a wee stretch just as much as everywhere else!
So… Here’s how to stretch properly:
- Sit on a chair upright and maintain good posture.
- With one hand hold onto the side of the chair.
- Lean away from the hand holding the chair keeping your arm straight.
- Tilt your head to same side and feel the stretch up your shoulder/neck.
- You can apply over pressure on your head using your opposite hand.
Hold this for 12-15 seconds then relax and repeat on the other side. You should do this 2-3 times on each side.
3. You think you're drinking enough water? Drink More and More
We all think we drink enough water but we never do. Make it a point in work where every time you send an email or answer the phone you take a drink, or every time there’s a advert on the tele you drink a glass of water.
Water increases blood flow around your body, which keeps muscles and fascia tissue loose and hydrated which in turn decreases headaches and other aches and pains.
There you have our top 3 tips on how to prevent/decrease your headaches, sound so simple, right? But they work. Give them a try and see how if affects you. Even if you don’t suffer from headaches give it a try and see how loose and generally better you feel.
